Welcome to the Young and Safe in Gainsborough Ltd website

Young and Safe in Gainsborough (YaSiG) is a not for profit organisation and Company Limited by Guarantee. The company established in 2007 operates as a social enterprise in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire and aims to improve and provide positive opportunities for young people aged 11 – 24 years. YaSiG became a Charity in March 2010 No 1135306

YaSiG aims to facilitate a number of high quality initiatives for young people in Gainsborough and West Lindsey including a Youth Coffee Bar facility offering somewhere for young people to meet and socialise, with facilities to engage interests and staff to inspire imaginations and provide supporting advice and counselling.

YaSiG Ltd is a partnership organisation and the Board consists of representatives from the following sectors and agencies;

Community and Voluntary Sector
Lincolnshire County Council Children’s Services
Lincolnshire Police
West Lindsey District Council

All of these organisations and individuals work in partnership to achieve shared local, regional and national objectives in relation to the development and ‘well-being’ of young people in Gainsborough and West Lindsey.

YaSiG Ltd was set up following a large-scale consultation exercise involving over 400 young people in Gainsborough, the key findings of which clearly indicated the main reasons young people become involved in anti-social behaviour and petty crime. These include a lack of job opportunities, diversionary activities and social facilities for young people in the town.

YaSiG Ltd has now been operational for over 4 years and successfully running a number of projects providing positive opportunities for young people which can be seen on other pages on the site. In October 2010 YaSiG took over the new premises at The Toll House 142 Bridge St Gainsborough DN21 1LP and started running courses and projects from here in January 2011.
